A return to the monthly dinners saw a good turnout and delicious fare! Green salad, veal cutlet with potato and vegetables, and a choice of vanilla or chocolate cheesecake complete with beverage, heralded our first dinner of the season!
Muriel introduced our head table guests: Hazel Postma, Betty and Ken, Lois and John, and Peggy and visiting guests Don and Dawn from Vernon.
A review of the year's activities included a note of thanks to all concerned with the Canadian Club of New Westminster and the Fraser Valley. Of note was the inclusion of Barbara as Treasurer, replacing Henriette, who has spent many years in this role. We welcome Barbara and thank Henriette for her excellent service.
Following dinner we gathered in the Theatre to listen to and watch a presentation by Hazel Postma, who has been the Associate Vice-President External Relations at Douglas College since August, 2005. Hazel explained that the bursaries and awards help about 2,000 students each year. The College campuses at New Westminster and Coquitlam are buzzing with student activity and offer online courses, distance education and 30 university transfer courses. To learn more of the College and its activities, please visit its web site with links to its many departments.
Next month on Tuesday, October 23rd, we welcome Steve Crombie, VP Public Affairs with InTransitBC. Please visit the Canada Line web site to learn more of its progress in Vancouver and Richmond.
Look forward to seeing you at the October dinner!
Best wishes,
